Embroidery is a traditional Chinese craft which consists of pulling colored threads through a background material with embroidery needles to stitch beautifully colored patterns. The adoption of different needling methods resulted in different embroidery styles and technique schools. Chinese embroidery had already reached a high level early in the Qin and Han dynasties, and silk and embroidery were the main products transported along the ancient Chinese Silk Road .

The garments in our embroidered category are either machine embroidered or hand embroidered. The hand embroidered garments are generally more expensive as hand embroideries on the particularly soft silk fabric requires especially highly skilled workmanship. On average, the embroidery designs on a silk coat take 1-2 weeks for a very skilled workman/woman to create. For the machine embroidered garment, the main construction of the garment is aided by machine. However, all trimmings, buttons and intricate details are mastered by hand stitching.
